- ➤ The Curran Foundation began its Florida chapter in Lakewood Ranch by awarding three grants to local nonprofits in Manatee and Sarasota counties to support children’s education, athletics and health. It will give away $250,000 by year’s end as it builds community partnerships. Observer

- ➤ Reel Equals Film Festival will run March 5-10 at Ringling College of Art and Design, the Sarasota Art Museum and online to showcase films on motherhood and mental health. Screenings include 'Hello, Mother' and '24 Days Without You,' and Anxiety Club opens with a filmmaker Q&A. Observer
