- ➤ At a Feb. 5 meeting in Longboat Key, the Kiwanis Club presented a record-breaking $123,900 check to the Children's Guardian Fund from its Lawn Party fundraiser. - ➤ Two invasive termite species (Asian and Formosan subterranean termites) are spreading north faster than expected and could put Florida homes at risk by mid‑century, according to a University of Florida study from Jan. 24.
