  • The 39th Holiday Boat Parade of Lights runs Saturday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m. on Sarasota Bay—attendees are encouraged to view at Bayfront Park and bring cash or toy donations. Visitors may reserve tables at Marina Jack or enjoy live music at O’Leary’s Tiki Bar and Grill.  Sarasota Herald-Tribune

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Sarasota Ballet will perform Jazz Calendar, Divertimento No. 15, and Mozartiana (its company premiere) at the Sarasota Opera House on Dec. 19 and 20. Tickets start at $35 and are available online.  Observer
  • Schroeder-Manatee Ranch released a coffee table book, Lakewood Ranch — A Legacy of Living with the Land, that tells the story of the community’s growth and rich history. The book is available for $29.99 at the Information Center, on Amazon, or at the Farmers Market.  Observer
  • Selby Gardens' Lights in Bloom is open through Jan. 3 on select nights, showing over 2 million lights, kids' games, balloon art, face painting, food and drink (cash bar available) and holiday photo opportunities at the downtown campus; Green Orchid offers a special holiday menu from 5-9 p.m. each evening.  Sarasota Magazine

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Sarasota straightened a 60 ft osprey perch at the bay side edge of Ken Thompson Park on City Island last week after Hurricane Milton damaged it as part of ongoing repairs.  Observer

HEALTH NEWS

  • Hudson River Foods recalled 12-ounce packages of Doughy Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough — sold in 15 states including Florida — for potential salmonella contamination per an FDA report. The recall applies to products with a best by date of July 4 and remains in effect.  Sarasota Herald-Tribune

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Between Nov. 24 and Nov. 28, a Siesta Key home at 3916 N. Shell Road — featuring four bedrooms, a pool and 4,087 sqft — sold for $3,542,800 to top local residential sales. Other properties in nearby communities sold for varied prices and sizes.  Observer
