- ➤ On Sept. 24, the UTC Kids Club hosted Gameland on The Green at UTC where kids played games and enjoyed bubbles free of charge+ families gathered and saw a fun day on the green. The next Gameland is scheduled for Oct. 22 while Miss Jodi’s School of Dance and a fall-themed storytime are planned for Oct. 1, Oct. 15, and Oct. 8 respectively. Observer

- ➤ Sip n Brew is a new coffee trailer owned by the Diaz family in Lakewood Ranch that began serving on August 30—offering a menu of coffee, tea and lemonade from various locations throughout each week. Katelyn Diaz plans to expand the business soon with more trucks and a permanent location to continue connecting with the community. Observer

- ➤ Suncoast Black Arts Collaborative opens its season today with the 'Harmonies of Sound and Vision' exhibit at Harmony Gallery featuring Tampa artist Donna Richardson whose pop art shows her love for music legends. The free exhibit runs through Oct. 19 and is part of SBAC’s Art Innovation Zone as the group faces tight funding amid a shifting political climate — the event honors Black art and culture. - ➤ The Florida Lottery released winning numbers from the Sept. 27 drawing with Powerball numbers of 10, 16, 32, 61, 66 and bonus 04. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The federal government is set to shut down on October 1 if Congress fails to pass a funding extension, which could furlough about 95,000 federal workers in Florida and close national parks—though essential agencies will continue operating. - ➤ Longboat Key Fire Rescue officers trained for water rescues with Manatee County Beach Patrol Division on Coquina Beach during a three-day drill that began Sept. 23, where Capt. Marshall Greene, Lt. David Synder and lifeguard Cliff Talbott led the effort — they focused on rapid jet ski and boat techniques — to improve emergency response. Observer
