- ➤ Family Promise of South Sarasota County broke ground on a new shelter in Venice by renovating a former assisted living facility to house four to six families in its Bridge Housing program. The renovation—now costing $700,000 with $150,000 still needed—is slightly ahead of schedule and will finish in 18 to 20 weeks while a fundraising gala is set for Oct 11 at Plantation Golf & Country Club.
