ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Six endangered lemur infants were born this season at the Lemur Conservation Foundation reserve in Myakka City; collared brown lemur twins arrived in April, red ruffed triplets were born in May, and an endangered ring-tail lemur was born in June. The foundation works with conservation programs to shield lemurs from extinction—more than 98% of species face this threat. Sarasota Herald-Tribune

- ➤ The Venice Planning Commission will review two northeast Venice development plans on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.—one for the 60-home Cassata Oaks development with conditions to protect the Fox Lea Farm Equestrian Center and one for Phase 2 of Vistera that adds 190 single-family homes.
