- ➤ Marie Selby Botanical Gardens received final approval from the Sarasota Planning Board on Aug. 7 to move ahead with building its new conservatory and learning pavilion—this step follows severe damage from last year's hurricanes Helene and Milton. The conservatory will include five rooms with different climates and state-of-the-art greenhouse technology to protect the garden's collection and boost research. Sarasota Herald-Tribune

- ➤ This fall, New College of Florida will welcome new faculty from top universities to guide students with one-on-one mentoring and detailed assessments instead of letter grades.
