  • The Hermitage Artist Retreat’s 'Hermitage Sunsets @ Selby Gardens' series returns this fall with outdoor shows by artists in residence and alumni at Selby Gardens’ downtown campus and at Historic Spanish Point in Osprey.   • A Manatee County Utilities ground crew discovered a fossilized giant sloth claw last month in a new trench, leading the County Department of Natural Resources to call the Bishop Museum of Science and Nature for its display.   • A new report shows that Suncoast renters must earn over $35 an hour to afford a modest two-bedroom when most workers now earn around $21.81, forcing many to take on extra jobs.   • A home on Casey Key on Casey Key Road topped the week’s real estate sales at $4 million—sold by Julie Tota to the Roth trustees—while other sales in Sarasota and nearby areas ranged from $510,000 to $1.65 million.
