- ➤ Sarasota County Commission will meet this fall with a report called the Sarasota Housing Action Plan that says 15,000 affordable housing units are needed to help seniors, teachers, nurses and families. The study, produced by the Florida Housing Coalition and local foundations, shows that Manatee County’s fast permits + funding have inspired local developers to push for similar changes in Sarasota.
