Venice police arrested Julie Faith Cornwall from Nokomis on DUI, fleeing, and resisting arrest charges after they found her asleep in her running Toyota in the parking lot on June 29 — she drove off when officers knocked on her window and ignored stop sticks until stopping near Venice City Hall where officers forced entry into her car and administered field sobriety tests — and she was then taken into custody.

The Florida Department of Transportation opened the new Legacy Trail bike and pedestrian bridge over Clark Road on July 2 to give safer passage for trail users ahead of the holiday.
