Local food fans can try G-Boys Cheesesteaks, a new restaurant selling out its Philly cheesesteak and specialty sandwich offerings since its opening on June 13 in Jacaranda Common Shopping Center in Venice.

This family-run spot run by brothers John + Ken Giacobbo is quickly becoming a community favorite.

Visitors can beat the summer heat at the new Mote Science Education Aquarium located at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, where interactive exhibits let guests see Humboldt penguins, sharks, otters & enjoy a hands-on stingray encounter.

Historic photos show the Ringling Shopping Center as a bustling retail hub with key events including a peaceful sit-in before its demolition in 2018, and the site is now redeveloped as Lyra Sarasota luxury apartments near downtown.

Sarasota Square is being redeveloped with 355 luxury apartments, Whole Foods, and national retailers at the former mall site along U.S. 41 and S.

Beneva Rd. Construction is underway and the project will create a mixed-use space for the community.

A redevelopment project on the former Midtown Plaza supermarket site near downtown received full approval from the city’s Development Review Committee.

Located at 1281 S. Tamiami Trail, the project will include a 145-room hotel, 91 apartments and a parking garage — setting the stage for modern growth.
