All Faiths Food Bank is calling on 800 local volunteers to support its summer feeding program, which will operate 60 outdoor mobile food distributions through September in Sarasota.

Volunteers will help provide 12,000 service hours to feed children and families during the hot summer period.

Manatee County officials broke ground on a half-mile trail from the water treatment plant to Rye Preserve on June 18; the fully funded project (costing $1,015,000) is set to finish in eight months as part of a larger trail network linking to Sarasota’s Legacy Trail.
