GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Pending Gov. DeSantis' signature, the new state budget adds nearly $300 million to the My Safe Florida Home program to fund free wind mitigation inspections and matching grants up to $10,000 for homeowners—allocating $94 million for grants, $1.5 million for inspections and funds for administrative costs—and urging homeowners who have been inspected to complete their grant applications when the portal reopens. - ➤ Florida led the nation by signing 629 agreements for local law enforcement to assist ICE under the 287(g) program, with nearly 292 local agencies on board as of early June. The state accounted for 43% of all agreements & Texas followed with 14%. Sarasota Herald-Tribune
