ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Firefighters from Sarasota County Fire Department and partners are containing a 60-acre brush fire near Ranch and Rustic Road at Pinelands Reserve in south Sarasota County; officials report no injuries and no risk to the public.  ABC 7

EDUCATION NEWS

  • State lawmakers have proposed moving the USF Sarasota-Manatee campus to New College in the new state budget; if approved, the 32-acre campus will close in July and students enrolled before July 1 will finish their studies as USF students for up to four years.  FOX 13

  • Angie Cupp drives her Massey Ferguson tractor along the Longboat Key beach to clean and fluff sand for resort properties, following strict permit rules.
