- ➤ Residents in Sarasota are advised to build hurricane supplies kits on a budget as the hurricane season will start June 1 — officials recommend stocking water, non-perishable food, medications, and basic items for emergencies. - ➤ Four brothers run Dakin Dairy Farms near Myakka City where they produce 8,000 gallons of milk a day for local outlets including Publix, Detwiler’s Farm Markets and Sarasota Memorial Hospital. The brothers work to keep the only dairy open to the public in Florida running—but shrinking land and a shifting market may force them to stop in 15 to 20 years. Observer

- ➤ Longtime supporters Jack and Priscilla Schlegel donated $10 million to help build a new Music Center on Fruitville Road, following a $50 million anonymous gift earlier this year. - ➤ The Barancik Foundation has opened applications for the TIME Fellowship, offering up to $12,000 to Sarasota County Schools educators to pursue personal projects that renew their teaching passion — teachers, assistant principals, and principals must meet eligibility criteria with a deadline of Sept. 29.
